You don't have to say that you were "out of the country" when the conversation doesn't really call for mentioning it; when it's grossly irrelevant. KAYABANGAN na lang yun! Some people feel the need to impose their "superiority" on you, one way or another -- especially when they see that between the two of you, you are younger and yet you are somewhat "equals". Defensive and unwilling to listen (I know how to read body language). Insecure? Or just unable to explain fault? Hmm...
