Call me an old school sentimental fool, but I love listening to Glam Rock on Fridays – a branch/variation of Heavy Metal that was popular throughout the 80s and early 90s. It’s a defining musical genre of my generation. Motley Crue was one of my favorites. I loved the way Tommy Lee’s drums sounded: “acoustically” solid! And I remember how my childhood friends and I used to laugh at how Mick Mars looked like Joey De Leon. HAHAHAHA!!!! His guitar riffs and solos had character of their own. Sonically packed a punch! Awesome. Those were the days…

It’s Friday again and I’m dying to go home. But it’s been a very long time since I felt truly “safely at home”. I mean really. I miss you, AAV. I still love you. Maybe it’s too late for me now and that it’s a longshot, but I still wish someday I’d get to see you again and be with you. Make new memories. Be really home again. Permanently. (sigh) L

However short, John Petrucci manages to deliver an awesome guitar solo. | Even the title of the album where it’s from, Black Clouds & Silver Linings, presents a positive side to a sad “place”. We’ve all been there – it’s what you do with the experience that counts. I love this song, whatever version… haunting but beautiful.
